Structure and Services

A Board of Governance forms the governing body of HepatitisWA. It comprises representatives from stakeholders, health and welfare professionals and interested community members.

HepatitisWA employs paid and unpaid staff. If you are interested in volunteering your services, go to the Volunteer Link for more information.

HepatitisWA provides a variety of services to people living with hepatitis, people affected by hepatitis, health professionals, youth and the community at large. Our services include:

Information and Support Services: Information and support can be accessed in a variety of ways including:

1. The Telephone Service which provides information and support in regard to hepatitis to the community. This service can be accessed by telephone on (08) 9328 8538 (Metro) or toll free on 1800 800 070 (Country) on weekdays between 9am and 5pm.

2. One-to-one advice and support is available by appointment.

3. Seminars and support group meetings are held on a regular basis and are an opportunity for people living with hepatitis C to access information and meet others.

Community Education: We provide education about hepatitis to the community and will tailor workshops as required. Topics may include:

* Transmission and prevention
* Testing and treatments
* Living well with hepatitis
* Workplace safety and other issues
* Policy development

Prison Blood Borne Virus Education: In collaboration with Family Planning HepatitisWA is contracted by the Department of Corrections to provide prevention education in relation to blood borne viruses to prisoners in metropolitan prisons.

Pharmacy Project: In collaboration with the Pharmaceutical Council of WA and the Pharmacy Guild of Australia (WA Branch), HepatitisWA provides education and support to pharmacy staff and other needle and syringe providers with regard to harm reduction strategies including blood-borne virus prevention and needle and syringe services.
