The standard of care (SOC) treatment for hepatitis C is Interferon/Ribavirin, either for 24wks or 48wks depending on Genotype. I would advise you to go to another doctor and get a second opinion. If you ring the Hepatitis C Council in your state of Australia they will be able to provide you with a list of Hepatitis C friendly doctors and specialists in your area. Im sorry to hear about your brother inlaw, but seriously he needs to see a specialist as soon as possible.
