THE Chief Minister’s Hepatitis Control Programme has started in all teaching and district hospitals of the province,
Provision of diagnostic and treatment facilities worth Rs.2 billion 28 crore has started on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif,. It is a ray of hope for patients,” said Dr Saeed Elahi, the chairman of the Chief Minister’s Taskforce on Spurious Drugs, in a press statement
According to a handout, he said that hepatitis was spreading very rapidly and first time solid measures had been taken by the present government for its prevention. He said that ELIZA Machine and kits for testing the disease have been provided in all hospitals. Moreover, 360,000 vaccines and medicines had also been provided whereas vaccination course, to more than two thousand patients would be provided during the current month. He said that treatment and test of Hepatitis C was very expensive.
Due to the CM’s historic steps, free treatment facilities would be made available to hepatitis patients, he said. He said that Hepatitis Management Committee had also been constituted in hospitals which will diagnose patients and recommend them for treatment.
