The Cambridge, Mass.-based biotechnology company’s trial is geared towards patients who are treatment-naive, meaning they have never received treatment for Hepatitis C (HCV). The company also has an ongoing trial using the drug target alone, as a monotherapy. “We plan to use the data from these ongoing trials to guide us in further clinical development of IMO-2125 in the treatment of chronic HCV infection,” said Tim Sullivan, Idera’s vice president of development programs, in a prepared statement. The drug candidate will be administered as an injection once a week for four weeks in combination with daily oral administration of standard doses of ribavirin. The trial will treat groups of 15 patients, with 12 receiving the IMO-2125-ribavirin combination treatment and the other three receiving only ribavirin. The clinical trial is expected to be conducted at five or more sites in France and Russia. http://boston.bizjournals.com |
